Many people are familiar with traditional biomaterials, such as metals and ceramics, and you may know someone who has received a hip or knee replacement implant or even a stent. However, the field of biomaterials is advancing with the need for new and innovative treatments for the repair of injured or diseased tissues. This Forumavond on Biomaterials will focus on the past, present, and future of the field. We will bring the material scientists and engineers who develop novel technologies together with the clinicians who use these materials in practice to discuss their opinions.

The goal of this conference is to discuss the methodological challenges that come along with the historical gaze towards theory, by focusing on the concrete processes in which knowledge is involved. By screening the unspoken rules of engagement that the accounts of post-war architectural theory have agreed to and distributed, we want to point at dominant assumptions, biases and absences.

Het interfacultair college Lessen voor de 21ste eeuw wil alle belangstellenden de mogelijkheid bieden na te denken over de grote vragen aan het begin van de 21ste eeuw. Vanuit verschillende wetenschappelijke disciplines wordt in 14 lessen toekomstgericht gereflecteerd over mens, maatschappij en wetenschap. Elk jaar komen andere thema's aan bod die vanuit diverse invalshoeken worden benaderd. Dit initiatief biedt een unieke gelegenheid om over de grenzen van de vakdisciplines heen de horizon te verruimen en het aspect algemene vorming aan de universiteit gestalte te geven.

The K.U.Leuven offers its LL.M. students a series of legal clinics that are only open to LL.M. students and a limited number of professionals (mainly solicitors, European Commission officials and scholars).
These clinics offer a platform to discuss contemporary issues in small groups and meet experts in their specialisation. It may also be an opportunity to establish a network with prominent practitioners.
Distinguished legal and business practitioners, representatives of the authorities and academia have accepted the invitation to lead the clinics as guest lecturers.
