The introduction of next-generation sequencing (NGS) has transformed medicine. NGS has facilitated the genetic diagnosis of patients with monogenic disorders and the discovery of novel disease-causing genes. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) is a cost-effective approach for research and clinical diagnostics. Yet it remains a major scientific or diagnostic challenge to select the 1 or 2 candidate variants that underlie the patient's disease among thousands of NGS calls.

Mobile Health (mHealth) presents itself as an emerging and developing field with the potential to transform the way current systems are managed. It will contribute towards increasing the systems' quality and efficiency.

With an expanding number of European citizens using smartphones and 3G/4G networks, the use of mHealth solutions has considerable increased and mHealth solutions appear as a solid basis for patients' empowerment, allowing them to manage their health more actively without leaving their own home environment.

The K.U.Leuven offers its LL.M. students a series of legal clinics that are only open to LL.M. students and a limited number of professionals (mainly solicitors, European Commission officials and scholars).
These clinics offer a platform to discuss contemporary issues in small groups and meet experts in their specialisation. It may also be an opportunity to establish a network with prominent practitioners.
Distinguished legal and business practitioners, representatives of the authorities and academia have accepted the invitation to lead the clinics as guest lecturers.
