The use of insects in the context of human food and animal feed gains importance in Belgium and in Europe. More and more rearing facilities are being set up and rearing companies are focusing on scale-up and automation. The substrate used, the rearing conditions (temperature, humidity, …) and the hygiene measurements are crucial for the food safety of the insects as finished products.
